Turn your Fitness Program into a Money Making Program

So you’ve been dieting and exercising but all of a sudden it seems like you just can’t lose any weight.  You need a weight loss plateau breaker, and fast.  So, now what do you do?  It is completely normal during your fitness training to have what many people see as a setback.  Unfortunately, even the most serious dieter can feel like what they are doing isn’t working and start up with those same old habits.  I know I’m even guilty of starting in on the ice cream and breads.  Then I realize I need a weight loss plateau breaker to help me get back on track.  Here are some great ideas that I got from Justine Holberg who wrote and article for Beachbody, the company that created P90X and who I work with as a coach.

1.  Her first weight loss plateau breaker is  to zigzag your daily calorie intake.  Sometimes you just need to jolt your body into action again.  Try to get your metabolism confused by dropping your calories by a couple hundred one day, then raising them a few hundred above normal then back down again.  This takes experimenting since everyone is different, but can do the trick if you find that perfect mix.  Undereating can actually cause a plateau, so eating more for a day can get your hormones into the act and give you the weight loss plateau breaker you need. Heck, whoever thought that eating more would be a weigh loss plateau breaker?

2.  Next, you can do the same thing with your exercise.  Doing the same thing everyday can be boring, but it also is less challenging.  This is the whole concept behind P90X, Inanity and other Beachbody workouts.  Muscle confusion is a very powerful thing and it is one way that Beachbody trainers help you when you need that weight loss plateau breaker.  Many Beachbody programs have phases of training for exactly this reason according to Beachbody Director of Results Steve Edwards.  Switch it up and you will start to see those results again real soon.

3.  Eat almonds.  Wow! that was easy!  Not only do they taste great, but some research suggests that they help you to burn fat due to their fiber and fatty acids.  Edwards says that any nut will actually do, because they all have the same basic makeup.  However, almonds are on of the better ones.  This weigh loss plateau breaker is so simple even I can do it.

4.  Sleep could be the most important and effective weight loss plateau breaker.  The problem could be that you are training too hard.  This can be a very fast way to hit a plateau according to Holberg.  According to the article, a recent study at the University of Chicago Medical School found that people who are deprived of sleep metabolize glucose less effectively, and have higher cortisol levels.  It goes on to say that the only thing that rivals sleep in helping your body recover from exercise is performance enhancing drugs.  If you think you are over-training and you need a weight loss plateau breaker that will work quickly, I recommend getting a good night sleep tonight and every night.

 5.  This is a tough one.  Relax!  Stress is a huge reason people his a plateau.  Cortisol levels are higher when you are stressed and tell your body to keep the fat.  According to Edwards, cortisol is actually there to help us by enhancing our performance in an emergency just like adrenalin.  The problem is that we have gotten too much through stress.  Take some time to be alone.  This weight loss plateau breaker could be number 2 behind sleep in my opinion.  P90X has Yoga X, or Yoga Booty Ballet may work.  If you don’t like yoga, then try some stretching.  All of the Beachbody workouts have a stretch routine that can help you relax.

sure you’ll be excited to learn more about the fastest way on the planet to get in shape.  Each of these group fitness instructors has their own personal qualities and experience.  That’s what makes these trainers and the workouts so unique.  Everyday, you can get a new trainer taking you through a new workout.

First is Susan Renata from Auckland, New Zealand.  Les Mills comes from New Zealand, so Susan is a great person to start with.  She teaches Les Mills  workouts all over the world and became one of the many group fitness instructors because she saw so many people doing weights and having fun.  She was also impressed with how many females were taking the classes.  Susan’s best fitness tip is moderation.  She suggests that you try everything!

Ben Tang is from Singapore.  His motivation to teach as one of the group fitness instructors is the idea of weight training with music.  I agree with Ben.  I get bored with weight training, but Les Mills Pump keeps me motivated and moving.  Ben tells us that we need to be realistic, and make little changes in our lives.  “After a year, you’ll see how far you’ve come,” he says.  That is great advice in my opinion.  So many people start a workout or diet, only to quit because it’s too hard.  Small changes will help you to reach your goals.

Next is Dan Cohen is from London, England and his suggestion is simply, “don’t quit”.  If you take Ben Tang’s advice and combine it with Dan’s, you have a powerful recipe for success.  Dan seems to be a pretty straight forward guy.  He became on the the Les Mills Pump group fitness instructors because the program works!  He says you shape, tone and lose fat.  What could be better.

Another trainer I’d like to introduce you to is Jericho McDuffie from Laguna Beach, California.  After taking one class, she says she was instantly addicted to the energy.  That changed her life and now she has become one of the group fitness instructors for the Beachbody video series of Les Mills Pump.  Her advice is something that I definitely agree with. Never underestimate the importance of stretching.  Not only does it feel good, but it has so many benefits in so many ways.

Does P90X Give You Effective Weight Loss Exercises?

P90x is not a program that is designed for you to lose weight.  However, many people do find that it is filled with effective weight loss exercises.  Steve Edwards is Director of Results/Fitness Adviser for Beachbody.  He has been in charge of  the fitness and diet program development since 2001 and is nationally recognized in his field.  He just wrote an article about losing weight with P90X and this is what he has to say about how P90X does include effective weight loss exercises if you use it correctly.

First, he says that you need to choose the right schedule.  P90X has three schedules: classic, lean and doubles.  Although lean and doubles include more effective weight loss exercises, Edwards says that it is more important how you do the program than which schedule you follow.  In fact, you can lose weight with the classic option as long as you follow the guidelines that Edwards describes in his article.  The way that lean and doubles are effective weight loss exercises is that they do not allow you to gain too much mass because they force you to do a lot of volume and you’re body can’t fully recover between workouts.  Another reason is that you avoid the heaviest resistance workouts completely.  He goes on to say that the way to get the most benefit from P90X for effective weight loss

exercises is to begin with the lean program and then follow it with doubles.  Once both of these have been completed, a round of classic will actually assist your body to stay lean according to Edwards.  He also warns that you must do each of the schedules correctly in order for them to be effective weight loss exercises.  If you don’t, you can actually gain weight.

You can begin to customize your program right away to begin to build your foundation.  In order to get lean, you will need to build some muscle mass. This raises the metabolic rate and helps you lose weight.  However, you don’t want to gain too much.  The most

effective weight loss exercises use a lot of repetitions but are difficult enough that you still fail at the end of each set.  Edwards says that this concept is extremely important in order to get lean.

Next, he discusses how to figure out where to fail and get the most effective weight loss exercises working for you.  Anything over 12 reps is considered endurance training, but we still build muscle up to twice as many reps.  As you go through P90X, you should increase the number of reps as you gain strength.  That means for effective weight loss exercises you should start with a fail point of 12 reps then increase the reps not the weight as you get stronger until you reach about 16 reps.  As you get further into the program you will want to go to 25 reps before you increase your weight.  Endurance with weights makes for very effective weight loss exercises.  Recovering from these types of workouts is a little more quick because you are putting less stress on your body.

So, what are the keys to effective weight loss exercises when using P90X?  Use low weights and high reps while keeping good form.  Especially when you are reaching exhaustion.  Don’t be afraid to go down in weight in the middle of your reps if you need to.  Start with the lean program and then move to the doubles.  Finally, if you want, you can also do a round of classic to help keep you lean.  In addition to all this is diet, but that is another article.  As a Beachbody coach I recommend Shakeology and following the extensive meal plans for each program.  Effective weight loss exercises are everywhere.  Even in P90X.  It’s just a matter of knowing how to use them correctly to get the most results possible.  Mr. Edwards did a great job of explaining how to use P90X for weight loss.  I wish you the best in your goals too.

found that you have to have a “burning desire” if you want to succeed.  Carl makes a great point that new Beachbody coaches need to understand.  That is that helping people is not your, “why”.  Wanting to help others is a great thing.  I want to help others, and it is an important part of my life.  However, if you study what Dr. Hill writes, he teaches about definiteness of purpose.  This means that you, as a new Beachbody coach have to have a specific and measurable goal.  For example, you might say I am going to be a Diamond coach in 90 days earning $2000 per month and I am willing to stop watching T.V. until I reach my goal.  This goal has a specific amount of money, a specific level to reach, a time limit to reach those goals and what you are personally willing to sacrifice to reach your goal.

New Beachbody coaches also need to have a personal, “why”.  Maybe you want to pay off your bills, or buy a new home.  Possibly you want to send your kids to college.  It is important to know exactly what you will need to pay for these things, the time frame it must be completed in and what you are willing to do to accomplish them.  In order to reach these goals you must have a burning desire according to Napoleon Hill.  For example, if you decide you want to buy a home in a safer neighborhood, put a picture of the home you want and think about it all the time.  As new Beachbody coaches, it is easy to quit this business because it only costs $39.95 to start, according to Daikeler.  However, will you quite on a safer home for your family?  I doubt it.  That, my friend, is a burning desire!

New Beachbody coaches are also taught how to, “check your attitude”.  Learning to control your thinking is vital as Beachbody coaches at any level, and in life.  Positive thinking takes work and we must develop these skills.  Have you ever noticed those people who always seem to have things go right for them, while others tend to have problems all the time?  ” The difference between the winners and losers is how you handle rejection” says Daikeler.  Beachbody coaches have to train themselves through self development tools to think positively.  If you are not willing to develop yourself, then you are probably not going to succeed at this business, so don’t waste your time or money.  On the other hand, if you’re ready to become one of the successful Beachbody coaches who is willing to make the sacrifice we are here to help you.  Beachbody’s slogan, “Decide, Commit, Succeed”, says it all.  Carl explains it this way.  Decide on your “why”, commit to your “why” and you will have no choice except to succeed.

Daren Olien is the man who travels around the world following his passion to find the most effective superfoods on the planet.  He is also the man who has found most of the beneficial ingredients the the Beachbody Shakeology that is becoming the backbone of the Beachbody business.  Recently, Daren and his Beachbody Shakeology were featured in an article in Businessweek written by Peter Heller entitled, “The Adventures of Superfood Man.”

To begin, I am a Beachbody coach and I drink and sell Shakeology.  I’m very pleased with Heller’s Beachbody Shakeology article for the most part, but feel that he missed an opportunity to discuss the results that people have with this meal replacement drink.  Here’s the basics on Mr. Heller’s article.

qualities.”  We know many of these foods like Blueberries and pomegranate.  However, there have been others from around the world that people have been eating for generations that many of us have never heard of such as sacha inchi.

Beachbody Shakeology has sold over $100 annually.  While dietary supplements in other multilevel marketing companies have declined by about 1% in 2010, Shakeology has increased by 100% per year.  This has all been done with the only advertising being word of mouth and the Beachbody Shakeology now makes up 20% of Beachbody’s annual business.

So, let’s get to the science.  What is a meal replacement drink? There have been many protein shakes developed to help lose weight since the 1970′s.  Since the Beachbody Shakology slogan is “The Healthiest Meal of the day,” is it really a meal replacement shake?  Let’s compare.  Ensure has 250 calories and 9 grams of protein while Beachbody Shakeology has 150 calories and 18 grams of protein.  That may not be very many calories, but they are packed with nutrients.  The fact is that there is a very fine line between meal replacements and sports nutrition drinks.  Bill Wheeler, Beachbody’s Chief Science Officer has been a staff nutritionist for both Presidents Carter and Reagan.  He also has worked with many professional sports teams.  He states that there are all kinds of studies on all the ingredients in the Beachbody Shakeology, and that Beachbody is currently conducting a clinical trial with 100 people that is double-blind at a university medical school.  I have a feeling that Dr. Wheeler is confident of the results.  But how, is the question that Heller asks. I love Dr. Wheeler’s response, “make a WAG. A wild ass guess.”  This is how Olien and Wheeler work.  They go to an area where superfood grows and they learn all about it from the experts in that area.  Next, they look at the science of the food, including studies, historical data etc.  They put all the information together and make the decision of how this food will fit into Beachbody Shakeology.  Dr. Wheeler describes how a British naval surgeon said that eating one lime each day prevented scurvy.  It was 70 years before people realized that it was vitamin C that saved thousands of sailors lives.  “Sometimes you can’t wait for the science,” says Wheeler.

Heller then has some professional nutritionists weigh in on Beachbody Shakeology.  Basically, they all say something like, the ingredients look good but we don’t know without more tests.  One researcher explains it this way.  Beachbody Shakeology has a compelling story.  The fact is that thousands of people who use this product have the results to prove that it works.  As for me, I drink 2 glasses of Shakeology per day.  One for Breakfast with berries in it, and one before I work out.  If I don’t drink my Beachbody Shakeology, my body can feel it.  So as for me, I’m convinced that Beachbody Shakeology is the “Healthiest Meal of the Day.”
